1. You Can Afford It

Take the time to go through your finances to make sure you are financially prepared to take on homeownership. Review your credit score and your common expenses to see if you can afford the mortgage payments. Once this is done, you will have an idea of what price range you can shop in. If you are searching the market and finding a home that is in that price range, then this is a good sign that you have found the right home.

 

2. You Have Visited The Home Multiple Times

Another indication that you have found the right home for sale in Fort St. John, is if you have visited the house multiple times. This shows you are very interested in the home and that you keep going back to see if your feelings towards the house have changed. Remember though, someone else may have viewed the home yesterday and maybe decided to purchase it today so if you wait until tomorrow it may be too late.

 

3. Had The Home Inspected

If you are interested in a home, it is important to have it inspected.  Just because a home looks like everything is new and working properly, does not mean it actually is. Has the home been inspected so you are certain the house is in good standing? Once you have had a professional look at the house and you still love how everything looks, then you will know you have found the right home.  It is best to get the home under contract first, then get it inspected. You don’t want to spend money on an inspection just to have someone else make an offer on it in the meantime.

 

4. You Checked Out The Neighbourhood

After you find a home you like, you want to be sure to check out the neighborhood so you know if it is the right fit for you and your family. Talk to some of the neighbors to try and get a feel for the community. Are there schools nearby? Is your commute to work far? Ask yourselves these questions when checking out the area.

 

5. You Can See Yourself Living There

Think big picture. If you have viewed home and can envision you and your family living there, then this could also mean that you have found the right home for you. Purchasing a home is a long-term commitment, so make sure this home fits into your five-year plan.
